| IAEKM,
the International Association of Electronic Keyboard Manufacturers,
is an association that comprises the global manufacturers of electronic
keyboards and affiliated software and publications. The products
that IAEKM members produce include synthesizers, portable keyboards,
digital pianos, sound modules, home organs, sequencers, drum machines,
samplers, keyboard controllers, classical/ theatre organs and educational
keyboard communication systems. Support products include publications
and musical computer software products.
In the past, IAEKM was an industry reporting group dedicated to
understanding the sales of electronic keyboards in the U.S. market.
Since this market was growing very fast, IAEKM created the first
industry sales reporting that reflected the changing sales mix of
keyboard products. More recently, IAEKM has expanded its purpose
to promote the use of electronic keyboards by making more information
available to the general public and to the community of music educators.
In
1996, IAEKM teamed with the National Association of Music Merchants
(NAMM) to support the foundation of the Technology Institute for
Music Education (TI:ME). The Institute's goal is to set music technology
standards for music education so they can be used in a certification
process to recognize the achievement of in-service music educators
in music technology. In the summer of 1998, TI:ME will start its
first Level One curriculum programs at major universities across
the United States.
With
this web site, IAEKM takes the next important step in the dissemination
of information. Music technology plays a vital role in music education,
and its impact is felt everywhere in the worlds of multimedia, television
and film production, and the Internet. As a result, the learning
and playing of electronic keyboards has become much easier and even
more powerful than in the past. And since changes in music technology
occur almost overnight, we'll be periodically updating the information
available on this site, so please visit us frequently.
We
appreciate your support and interest in electronic keyboards and
music technology. The future looks bright and the best is yet to
come!
